A serial fraudster convicted of selling fake and potentially dangerous viagra has been extradited from Spain and jailed for ten years after failing to pay a £14m confiscation order made against him.
Greedy Martin Hickman, 54, of Lily Lanes, Ashton-under-Lyne, lived the high life with several luxury flats, Range Rovers and a ‘substantial property’ Marbella on the back of his illegal business.
He was first jailed in May 2007 for three months and fined £20,000 after breaching a High Court order ordering him to stop selling drugs including fake viagra.
But that did not stop him and later that month the MEN exposed that his enterprise – MSH World Traders – was still operating even though Hickman was behind bars.
The conman was then jailed for two years in 2009 following an investigation by the Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency (MHRA) after he pleaded guilty to five counts of money laundering and supplying fake and unlicensed drugs and was convicted of one more.
A proceeds of crime hearing at Southwark Crown Court in April 2012 found Hickman had raked in more than £15.4m from the illegal enterprise which also included selling slimming pills. He was ordered to pay £14.4m (more than $22 million USD) within six months or face ten years jail.
