Condom Only Gay Porn Performer Tests Positive for HIV; No Further Transmission

Thank god.. Now if we get could gay porn to wear condoms these problems wouldn’t exist.. Ill make some calls

CANOGA PARK, Calif. — An adult film performer has tested HIV-positive, the APHSS.org said today.

The performer, according to APHSS.org, worked exclusively on condom-only productions. The performer’s identity and sex were not released by the group.

However, according to The Sword, multiple sources say that it was a male gay porn performer who tested positive for HIV.

“The positive results came back after routine testing for a scheduled shoot with Men.com,” The Sword said. “Given that Men.com’s shoots are condom-only, it’s highly unlikely that the performer contracted HIV while on set.”

There is no indication that the performer was infected on the set, APHSS.org said. Performers who worked with the subject were retested and each came back with negative test results.

“APHSS.org supports adult industry standards for performer STI testing and upholds industry protocols in the event of an exposure incident,” APHSS.org said.

Adult industry trade association Free Speech Coalition operates APHSS.org, known formally as Adult Production Health & Safety Services.

  • I am going to copy and paste my comment on another blog as it applies here as well.

I have one question, then a possible answer. If all of the sets are condom only, how did this guy get HIV in the first place if it wasn’t on set? Maybe he wasn’t as conscientious in his personal life as he is on set. Maybe his life partner was cheating on him. I don’t know but these are the most likely answers if it truly didn’t happen on a set (which I cannot say as I don’t know in this case, really no one knows for certain). This proves that those are the stakes if you choose to fuck, especially anal (if you will recall Tricia Deveraux got HIV in a cream pie anal). Nothing is going to prevent HIV or anything else from being transmitted with certainty. This proves that the condom nazis at AHF need to back the fuck off and accept that in porn there is going to be the occasional HIV case, condoms in porn will not do a damn thing to help. Straight porn’s testing program is not perfect by any shot but it is much more likely to prevent an HIV case than the AHF “solution” of condoms (which are much better at birth control than preventing HIV transmission although even for HIV they are better than nothing). The testing program caught this, that is why gay porn needs to start testing, pronto (as far as I can find out Manwin and Kink are the only gay producers that test, probably because both are mainly straight and lesbian porn producers anyway). If a person is more comfortable using a condom it should be his/her choice but testing is much better than condoms at nipping the inevitable HIV outbreak in the bud.

We could improve the testing regime, however. In a perfect system we would test every 14 days. However, the trade off is that talent would have more collapsed veins as every time a venipuncture is performed there is a chance of a vein collapse. There is also the extra cost of an additional test every month. We should also test for Hepatitis B and C. Also as I said earlier gay porn should test on the same schedule and HIV positive performers should only perform with other HIV positive performers (gay porn usually assumes everyone is positive and depends on condoms to prevent transmission which as proven here does not work). Maybe now people will wake up and smell the cappuccino, accepting that HIV is inevitable in this business and thinking long and hard as to whether he/she (especially women and receiving gay men, who are more likely as the receiving partner to get HIV or any other VD) want to risk it by performing in porn. I wish I could sugar coat this but it is not amenable to being sugar coated.
