DotXXX Closing In On The Elusive DotPro

Yes. It looks like dotXXX will soon over take dotPro and move into 11th place in the battle for internet dominance. What was once seen as a joke, dotXXX is showing the world they came to battle. When asked for a comment, DotPro had nothing to say. One person, speaking on a condition of anonymity, said that dotXXX’s million dollar ad campaign, speed boat and newly signed porn talent signaled what is surely to be a changing of the guard.

Soon dotXXX will be going head to head with dotAsia and dotName which will be a battle of pay per view proportions. I for one would hate to be dotName. They have a huge target on their back. When I contacted dotCom and asked them if they were worried about dotXXX they replied with, “dotWHO”? Then they sold me an 8 dollar domain…

  • This reminds me of that 1992 SNL sketch with Phil Hartman as Clinton, bragging about how, during his tenure as governor, Arkansas passed Mississippi to become 41st in the prevention of rickets. Look out Alabama...

  • It's a joke alright. I'm looking forward to the wording (which has so far taken them 3 months and counting ... to get juuuust right) for how they plan to convince performers (such as myself) to enter into this Performers Program. Initially, I wanted to purchase my amanda36c . xxx under their Sunrise application, but ICM Registry blocked me from doing so. When I did a Whois search for this domain, it showed that it was "reserved by ICM Registry". I inquired about the purchase and they told me there would be a program for performers. Oh, so we get to ride the 'special bus'. I'm not a huge fan of crowds myself, but shouldn't I have been given the *choice*? Had they allowed me to purchase it under Sunrise A (as I own amanda36c . com), my question "who initially tried to reserve my .xxx?" would have had to have been answered! Under this 'special' program, however, it seems those same rules no longer apply and I have ZERO rights and no access to this information! What else, under this performers program, have I waived my rights to? They claimed "that is confidential". So under Sunrise A, they'd have to tell me but under this 'special' Performers Program, I am not to find out! Why a special program for us performers?

Besides that, as if it isn't enough of an indication this whole thing is a joke, how will this Performers Program differ from that of the other domain buyers (Sunrise A, for example) whose names never appear under an Escrow account, even though their names are held in 'reserve'?

I guess the real question is this: who legally owns amanda36c . xxx ... myself or ICM Registry? If you read their Registry/Registrant Agreement & TOS, it's unclear but sure sounds a lot like they do. Keep in mind that this is no regular standard domain hosting service. In fact, ICM separates itself from domain hosts with claims that they are not a registrar.

I haven't purchased it yet. They won't let me, but I'm sure they're eager to get the details of this 'special' program out to us performers as fast as they possibly can, because we're SO important to them. It is being held for me under an Escrow account. http://whois.domaintools.com/amanda36c.xxx
But the details differ in Whois with THIS chathost, who happens to somehow have hers bought and turned over to her (or does she?) http://whois.domaintools.com/jennycouture.xxx If there's already one in existance (as seen here, with this performer), then why isn't the program ready yet? It was announced to me on september 13th, in a scramble after my initial inquiry about purchasing mine under Sunrise A. It's changed names a few times and it now (but this, like their very own policies, can change at any time, under their 'sole discretion'). Hmmm ... september 13th to january 3rd is ... well pretty damn near close to 4 months. That's long enough even for the worst of lawyers to word it in a way that makes it look good enough for the majority of people who never bother reading the legal mumbo jumbo. I know - make it a 10-page boring, over-extended sleeper of a document and noone will have the mental focus to keep reading. Great job so far on the ambiguity. I'm sure they can keep it floating in that same direction.

I tweeted them again today and sweetly asked: "Assuming you're busy counting the big $$$. FYI - I noticed another performer has her dot xxx already..NOT under Escrow acct. HOW so?". They replied: "As stated multiple times - we are testing the program and some performer domains have already been released." . I added: "That Escrow acct sounds really shady. How much longer before the details come out, you know, to clear the air a little?". They replied with the same old, same old: "It will be announced when it is ready.". Losing patience now, I just put it right out there: "When your lawyers find just the right wording? Who's creating the terms; ex-iFriends lawyer Falco or current iFriends lawyer Kayton?". I guess they suddenly got busy with new incoming fresh thousand dollar bills piling up on their desk as we spoke (so to speak), so I will patiently wait for a response. :)
    Amanda (amanda36c)

  • Wow. Less than 200 new .xxx registration in a day. Let's do the math. 200 x 365 = 73000. 73000 x $60 = $4380000.

$4380000 minus the cost of a raceboat, their advertising budget, the cost of getting ICANN's approval (bribes) = $0000.

They still have a long way to go if they want to reach that $200 million per year number Lawley claimed he would be making.
