‘End demand’ failing in Norway: outreach center seeing ‘steady increase’ in prostitution since 2010

Women and men from at least 53 different countries were involved in prostitution last year, according to The Church City Mission (Kirkens Bymisjon)

The law banning sex-purchase has been introduced in 2009, yet the number of foreign prostitutes increased in recent years, writes Dagsavisen.

After the law was introduced, prostitution felt in Norway a little, but we have seen a steady increase since 2010. Our impression is that street prostitution is only increasing, and it is now up to almost the same extent as before the law was introduced, says Olav Lægdene from  the Church City Mission’s Nadheim center for women and men in prostitution.

The center was last in contact with people from around 53 countries, compared with 41 countries in 2012, according to the Church City Mission’s annual report for 2013.

An evaluation of sex-purchase law to be presented to Parliament in August.

  • You'll notice the heavy emphasis on "foreign" prostitutes in this discussion. This points to the dirtiest of all the dirty secrets behind the European anti-sex-work hysteria. Much of it is driven by racism and xenophobia. The self-proclaimed "progressives" who support the so-called Nordic Model don't like to address the rather obvious fact that they're in flagrante delicto in bed with various Tory parties, right-wing religious fanatics and, worst of all, ultra-nationalist parties on much of the continent that see prostitution as a lure for non-white immigrants to make a few bucks on the sacred terrain of "white Europe."

Racism fuels much of this controversy and groups that are supposed to be very much opposed to such racism would rather sweep this fact under the rug than deal with the truth of what kind of supporters their movement actually attracts.
