A man used the lyrics of a violent rapper to boast about killing his girlfriend on Facebook three days before he fatally shot her, police have said.
Woody Borgella posted ‘I smell murder where the wind blows’ on the social networking site before allegedly killing Lora Ann Evans in their apartment in Brooklyn, New York.
The lyrics appear to be a reference to the song by rappers DMX and 50 Cent called ‘Shot up’ in which they talk in graphic detail about blasting their enemies to death.
Police believe Borgella, 29, and Miss Evans, 31, were arguing about money when he shot her in the head and chest at their apartment.
He went on the run but handed himself in and has now been charged with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.
In a videotaped confession he is said to have admitted the murder after she accused him of cheating on her. He in turn accused her of stealing from his marijuana stash, the New York Post reported.

The paper also claimed that Borgella has also been named as the attacker on three separate domestic incident reports, none relating to Miss Evans, and has five prior arrests for drug possession, robbery, assault and theft.
The ominous rap posting on his Facebook page appeared last week – days before Monday’s alleged shooting.
It is an apparent reference to ‘Shot up’ – the verse in question is rapped by Styles P and reads: Niggaz like me might rush your apartment (word), Bloodstains’ll **** up your carpet, brain on the window, I smell murder every time that the wind blow, Tie him to the chair and then knock out his chinbone’.
New York police said that after being shot Miss Evans was taken to Kings County Hospital but she died of her injuries a short time later.
Borgella was seen fleeing the building after the shots were fired but it was only on Wednesday that investigators identified him as a suspect.
The murder weapon was found later behind a building next door.
Borgella appears to have put profiles up on a number of social networking sites, including one dating website.
His MySpace page has the words ‘Take a good look cauz I’m going straight to the top’ above his profile whilst on his Facebook page it says his motto is ‘Expected the unexpected’.
He also lists his religion as Christian and says his job is a mail room manager.
Police arrest suspect in Midwood murder
A 29-year-old Midwood man — who may have forecast his intention to kill his girlfriend on his Facebook page — surrendered to authorities on Wednesday after they accused him of shooting and killing his 31-year-old beau inside their Ocean Avenue apartment near Avenue J.
Woody Borgella wrote “I smell murder where the wind blows,” on his Facebook page three days before he is believed to have murdered Lora Ann Evans.
Investigators say that the two were arguing about money when the James Madison HS grad pulled a gun and opened fire, hitting Evans in the head and chest.
Paramedics rushed Evans to Kings County Hospital, where she died of her injuries a short time later.
Witnesses told police that Evans was seen fleeing the building after shots were fired, but cops did not identify him as a suspect until Wednesday morning. That evening, he contacted detectives, scheduling a time to surrender. At about 10 pm Wednesday night, Borgella — who’s Facebook motto is “expect the unexpected” — came into the 70th Precinct with family members and was charged with murder in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon.
