Founder and photographer Substantia Jones has photographed hundreds of plus size people, mostly women and mostly nude, for her Adipositivity Project. The hope of the ongoing Project is to demystify the fat body and promote enlightened discussion of fat politics and social justice. “The Adipositivity Project is a body-love photo-activism campaign which shows what the larger end of natural human variation really looks like,” says Jones. “It’s not the lumbering, headless fat folks in grease-stained t-shirts television news broadcasts would have you believe.”

As a BBW model/performer, Kelly is also passionate about introducing body positive messages into the media spotlight and promotes her ongoing mantra of “Confidence Is Sexy” through a variety of mediums. Her article on plus size sexuality and pornography on Jane Pratt’s SAY MEDIA site, xojane, was one of the site’s most popular articles. Kelly has written for several adult industry sites, and was a featured guest editor for ex-Gawker Media site Fleshbot's Kelly Shibari Week, and currently contributes to sexuality website Gasm.org. A proponent of “intelligent hedonism,” Kelly speaks on college campuses on how to intelligently navigate female sexuality, negative media messages about size, and bullying, all while developing self-confidence and inner strength.

“I’ve always been a bigger girl,” says Kelly. “Being plus-sized when I was younger came with the negative self-image that I not only cast upon myself, but was exposed to by society. Exposing my body publicly, through adult entertainment, modeling, and outreach, has been the direct catalyst for my own self-confidence. If sharing my body with others, through a variety of mediums, inspires women of size feel better and more confident, then I’m extremely happy. Positive imagery of plus size women was not something that was available to me when I was younger. Projects such as the Adipositivity Project are part of the movement to get people to not only accept themselves, but a message to the world that you don’t have to conform to a media-dictated size to be considered sexy, and for that I’m extremely grateful.”

After the shoot, we walked to a nearby restaurant and solved 70% of the world's problems over lunch. Kelly's got a fun spirit and a fierce mind for business. And boy, can she rock some knee socks!”
