A gay man who filed a lawsuit after he was fired from his job at a Clackamas adult bookstore was awarded more than $76,000 in damages.
Clackamas County Circuit Judge Michael Wetzel found that Wilford Paul Bearden had been subjected to actions that “were reasonably and subjectively offensive” to Bearden as a gay man.
Bearden was hired at Fantasyland II in April 2010 and fired three months later.
Bearden claimed that Fantasyland II allowed a hostile work environment, treated him differently because of his sexual orientation and fired him after he complained about sexual harassment.
“I am pleased with the result since it vindicated my client’s rights,” said Benjamin Rosenthal, Bearden’s attorney.
The judge last week awarded Bearden $61,430 for lost wages and $15,000 in noneconomic damages.
