A California man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for tricking a slew of young women into performing in online pornographic films, subjecting them to rough and painful sex and threatening them if they refused to be in the films, the Department of Justice announced.

Ruben Andre Garcia, a former GirlsDoPorn producer and performer, pleaded guilty to sex trafficking by force, fraud and coercion in December and was sentenced Monday in the Southern District of California after listening to 22 of his victims excoriate him for the crimes in a series of victim impact statements.

“Andre Garcia conned a 17-year-old girl to fly across the country so he could have sex with her and exploit her youth for profit,” one woman, identified as Victim K, told the court, according to Courthouse News.

She said Garcia flew her out to San Diego on her 18th birthday to film a porn and on the way to the shoot, picked up a birthday cake at a grocery store to use as a prop.

Between 2013 and 2017, Garcia and his co-defendants posted ads on Craigslist seeking clothed models for photoshoots that included fake websites and email addresses to trick young women into taking the gig, the DOJ said in a news release.

Once they responded to the ad, Garcia disclosed they were actually seeking actresses for porn shoots but he promised the young women, many of whom were 18 to 20 years old, that the videos would never be released in the US or posted online.
