SAN FRANCISCO — Eric Paul Leue, Kink.com’s Director of Sexual Health and Advocacy, appears in a new Vice.com documentary about Truvada, the pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) medication that prevents HIV infection when taken daily.
The three-part documentary, Stopping HIV: The Truvada Revolution, explores the potential for the drug to end the HIV epidemic which began in the early 1980s.
Leue, who has been dedicated to HIV prevention and community awareness for over ten years, provides a forceful counterpoint to AIDS Healthcare Foundation’s Michael Weinstein, whose controversial stance on the breakthrough medication outraged many in the HIV prevention community, and led to a petition to have him recalled from AHF.
Under Leue’s lead, PrEP has become an important point of focus in the adult industry’s battle with Cal/OSHA over increased regulation. Performers, producers and health advocates have unified behind a series of protocols that would educate and better foster performer choice in STI prevention, including testing, PrEP and barrier protections.
Kink.com has sponsored Leue to present at over 40 PrEP panels across the US, Canada, and Europe in an effort to better educate the community and general public.
Leue has also hosted PrEP panels at the San Francisco Armory which houses Kink.com, and is shown in the documentary working the Kink.com talent office to educate performers about PrEP and other STI prevention methods.
Stopping HIV: The Truvada Revolution is available for free streaming on Vice.com.
