Hyderabad: Stringent Internet restrictions are in the offing in order to curb pornography in Telangana. Taking a cue from Netherland’s model Internet pornography curb, the government is now putting in place an army of the best IT experts for a defense mechanism.
As the Poonam Malakondaiah Committee on safety of women and children suggested that extensive transmission of child pornography and general pornography has caused an increase in sexual crimes, IT and panchayati raj minister K.T. Rama Rao on Saturday met Cyberabad police commissioner C.V. Anand and top ethical hackers in the state to plan the move.
The IT minister has given the nod to police and ethical hackers to launch a Hackathon on pornography as a brainstorming session, and the government will implement the restrictions based on the outcome.
The minister has said that the government has taken the matter very seriously, and all possible steps will be taken to do away with child pornography.
“We are planning to conduct a 36 to 48 hours Hackathon with more than 60 best IT experts and ethical hackers in the state to chalk out the plan.
According to the IT Act, child pornography will be completely banned, and many forms of general pornography will also be restricted,” said Mr. Anand.
