Skittles candy is coming under attack after it released a bizarre new commercial that featured a lusty woman passionately kissing a walrus.
Disgusted critics slammed Wrigley Co, the company that owns Skittles, for making the ad, which they said was ‘disgusting’ and ‘disturbing.’
At least one writer found the video so morally offensive, he said the brand was promoting bestiality in an effort sell more of the fruity-flavor candy.
Skittles is know for using strange, surrealistic and even off-putting commercials created by ad firm DDB Chicago, which is also behind the walrus ad.
In the TV spot, a woman walks home to find her blond roommate passionately kissing a massive walrus.
‘This isn’t what it looks like,’ the woman with the walrus says.
‘Good, because it looks like you’re making out with my boyfriend,’ her roommate replies.
‘This isn’t Bobby. He just looks like Bobby. He says he’s like these new Skittles Riddles, the colors on the outside don’t match the flavors on the inside,’ the blond says.
The walrus grunts and groans as the woman smooches it.
John Nolte, an editor for the conservative news site breitbart.com says the ad is part of a broader attempt by liberals to remove the stigma of bestiality.
‘You can laugh and say it’s just a joke, but through a war of inches, Hollywood continues its assault to define deviancy down and to normalize destructive behavior. Humor is an excellent way to get us used to and to take the shock value out of something hideous and immoral,’ he writes.
Disgusted twitter seemed to have a less political, more visceral reaction to the commercial.
‘Hey, new Skittles commercial, bestiality is NOT cool,’ writes one user.
‘Dear @skittles, family & friends were subjected to your disgusting beastiality walrus commercial and swore never to buy skittles again. Fact,’ wrote another user.
