A Utah truck driver accused of forcing women into being his sex slaves as he drove around the country, beating them and filing down their teeth, faces kidnapping and child porn charges.

Timothy Jay Vafeades made a brief court appearance in Fargo, N.D. on Wednesday before being transferred to Utah on the charges that include transportation for illegal sexual activity.

There are and have always been sick individuals who engage in this type of behavior. I agree it will be attributed to porn, etc., but it’s worth noting that this kind of crime was committed long before porn became widely available – in fact, throughout human history.

These acts are committed by individuals and only by focusing the attention of the criminal justice system on tracking down the perpetrators and the prosecuting them to the full extent of the law will have any significant impact.
