LOS ANGELES, CA / TAMPA, FL – (JULY 16, 2015) – VH1 Behind The Music staple Bob Seger famously sang “I used her, she used me, but neither one cared – we were getting our share” in his 70s radio anthem “Night Moves.” Today, thanks to the announcement of the 23rd Annual NightMoves Awards nominations, Canoga Park-based industry powerhouse Wicked Pictures is getting its share – of the glory. The company and the lines it distributes have received twenty major accolades – their highest NightMoves tally to date – including Best Director nominations for feature filmmakers Brad Armstrong, Stormy Daniels, Jonathan Morgan and Axel Braun.
Several high-profile nominations went to contract performer, writer and filmmaker Daniels; her fine work in front of the camera was recognized in the Best Female Performer category, while the overall excellence of her output as a filmmaker earned a Best Director (Features) nomination. Her AVN Editor’s Choice adventure Pretty Dangerous, which she wrote, directed and starred in, was honored with a Best Feature Production nomination.
The continuing high quality of blockbuster creator Brad Armstrong’s work was similarly championed with an overall nomination for Best Director (Features). His Editor’s Choice drama Holly…Would was honored with a Best Feature Production nomination, while star Asa Akira’s beauty was celebrated in the coveted Best Body category.
The diversity and excellence of writer, performer, director, sexual wellness authority and Holly…Would co-star jessica drake‘s work was duly recognized, beginning with a Best Female Performer nomination for her fine work in such acclaimed features as Brad Armstrong’s Aftermath. Her AVN and XBIZ award-winning educational line, jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex, earned a Best On-Going Series nomination while one of the franchise’s most popular installments, jessica drake’s Guide to Wicked Sex: Plus Size (co-directed by Kelly Shibari), was recognized in the Best BBW Release category.
The enduring quality of veteran Wicked filmmaker Jonathan Morgan’s work was similarly celebrated with a Best Director (Features) nomination, while his excellent couples’ release Sexaholics earned a well-deserved place in the Best Feature Production category.
In addition to being recognized in the Best Director (Parody) category, parody master Axel Braun saw Best Parody nominations go to two epic installments in his Wicked Fairy Tales line – Sleeping Beauty XXX: An Axel Braun Parody and Cinderella XXX: An Axel Braun Parody. His skill in creating high-energy all-sex content helped Axel Braun’s Trashy MILFS earn a Best a Cougar / MILF Release mention and Axel Braun’s Inked snare a Best Fetish / Specialty Release nom. Additionally, Axel Braun Productions‘ contract superstar Riley Steele received a Best Body nomination.
Two additional noms went to the Marc Dorcel line of European erotica distributed in the United States by Wicked. The Baron’s Whores received Best Feature Production, while Dorcel himself was recognized in the Best Director (Features) category. And finally, as befits a company that should earn acclaim in categories as diverse as blockbusters, features, parodies and sexual wellness, Wicked Pictures received a Best Company nomination.
For his part, Wicked Pictures President and Owner Steve Orenstein couldn’t be more pleased to see his filmmakers and performers rewarded so handsomely, observing, “I am happy to see all of our directors and contract stars nominated for such a wide range of projects. We strive to create the best movies possible and appreciate NightMoves for noticing.”
The 23rd Annual NightMoves Awards Show will be held October 11th 2015 at the Gold Club in Tampa, Florida. In a prepared statement, event organizers announced, “The NightMoves Awards were started in 1993 and are the third oldest, continuously running adult awards show in the United States. The NightMoves Awards are an offshoot of NightMoves Magazine, owned and operated by Paul and Tracy Allen. The NightMoves Awards were the first to allow fans to select the winners, making it the original fan based awards. They were also the first awards show to allow online voting.”
