On Friday, November 7, Jane Ward will moderate “Is Porn Still Fun?” with panelists Constance Penley, Keith Harris, and representing artist, Jiz Lee. A porn performer for nearly a decade, Lee has been invited to screen selections of their work, showcasing the often subversive, surprising, and joyful sexual experimentation possible within queer and independent pornography.

Saturday, November 8’s panel “Sex is… Sex Ain’t: Working at the Critical Edge of Sex, Politics, Art, and Industry” is chaired by Juana María Rodriguez with panelists Marlon M. Bailey, Dian Hanson, April Flores, Hoang Tan Nguyen, and Shine Louise Houston. As Pink and White Production’s founding director, Houston’s extensive experience of queer sexuality and film has earned her honors as a visionary among sex culture curators.

The American Studies Association is the nation’s oldest and largest association devoted to the interdisciplinary study of American culture and history. For more information, click here and follow the conference online using hashtag #2014ASA.
