‘SECOND CHANCES’ NAMED ROMANCE MOVIE OF THE YEAR, ‘TABU TALES’ WINS BEST NEW SERIES AND BEST TABOO RELATIONS MOVIE!
New Sensations/Digital Sin scored big honors for its romantic feature “Second Chances” and provocative new series “Tabu Tales” at the 2015 AVN Awards. Co-directed by Jacky St. James and Eddie Powell, “Second Chances” won Best Romance Movie and earned its star, Carter Cruise, a Best Actress victory. “Tabu Tales” was named Best New Series and took home the award for Best Taboo Relations Movie for “Keep It In the Family.”
“We’re very grateful to AVN for the recognition it has given ‘Second Chances’ and our new series ‘Tabu Tales.’ Thematically they are very different movies, but made with the same diligence and creativity that goes into all our movies,” New Sensations/Digital Sin President Scott Taylor said. “It’s a great and encouraging way to start the year as we move forward to produce exciting new projects for our audience.”
“Second Chances” marked the first collaboration between St. James and Powell since their award-winning BDSM feature “The Submission of Emma Marx.” Written by St. James, the romantic dramedy stars Carter Cruise as a sweet and trusting college freshman betrayed by her boyfriend, who makes her the butt of a humiliating fraternity joke. When he unexpectedly comes back into her life years later — a seemingly changed man — she must decide if he’s worth a second chance. A heartwarming tale of love and forgiveness, “Second Chances” resonated with audiences and critics alike, earning wins for Best Romance Movie and Best Actress for lead Carter Cruise at the 2015 AVN Awards.
“Carter Cruise taking home Best Actress was the highlight of the night for me,” Jacky St. James said. “She worked so hard in that role, making it her own. She opened herself up emotionally and I couldn’t be more proud.”
Cruise is the third consecutive performer St. James has directed to an AVN acting award. She led Remy LaCroix to a Best Actress win for “The Temptation of Eve” in 2014 and Steven St. Croix to a Best Actor win for “Torn” in 2013. “Our studio has a knack for casting performers who are perfect for our roles and who are driven to turn in award worthy performances,” St. James said.
Digital Sin’s provocative vignette series “Tabu Tales” is a collection of scripted, psychosexual stories of forbidden sex within family circles. Movies produced for the series are lauded for their bold themes and creative storytelling. “Keep It In the Family” was one of three titles from the “Tabu Tales” series nominated for AVN’s newly created Best Taboo Relations category; the other two being “Our Father” and “A Mother Daughter Thing.” Considered by St. James to be one of her more risqué titles, “Keep It In the Family’s” win is especially rewarding.
“The ‘Tabu Tales’ line is one of my absolute favorites. Taboo subject matter is always exciting, and when you can produce it on a high-end level with talented performers it becomes more enthralling. I was thrilled that it won Best New Series,” St. James said. “‘Keep It in the Family’ is also a personal favorite of mine and includes some of the most deviant scenes I’ve written to date. It’s truly amazing to be recognized for such diverse projects. It’s a great honor, and we can’t fully express our appreciation to everyone at AVN.”
