Despite our best intentions, we all visit our old friend, the vending machine, once in a while–right? It’s just that we usually go in search of a bag of Doritos or maybe a smooshed Hostess snack cake… not hormone-based contraception.
But that’s what you’ll find in a vending machine at Shippensburg University in Pennsylvania.
Students can purchase Plan B One-Step for $25 using the vending machine at the university’s health center, which costs less than at off-campus pharmacies.
The machine was installed after 85% of the university’s students voted in favor of it; the Vice President for Student Affairs, Roger Serr, said that the “university’s female population purchases between 350 to 400 doses of the pill each year.”
But the morning-after pill isn’t the only thing the machine keeps in stock; you can also buy pregnancy tests and condoms.
