Chauntelle Tibbals, Ph.D. Holds Reddit AMA June 12

Chauntelle Tibbals, Ph.D. will hold a Reddit “I Am A: Ask Me Anything” Q&A session online Thursday, June 12. The sociologist, recently featured in the newest edition of The Real World: An Introduction to Sociology, will answer questions from the public regarding all socio-cultural aspects of the adult entertainment industry, gender, sexuality, technology, and more.

“I’m really looking forward to hosting a Reddit AMA,” says Dr. Chauntelle, who posted her photo evidence for Reddit on her personal Twitter page. “My research considers how developing technology and the public’s increasing access to adult content impact both the wider social world, as well as those working within the adult entertainment industry. I also look at how it relates to relationships, sex, and identities, and how modern society has changed.”

Dr. Chauntelle continues, “I hope, by answering the public’s questions, we can join together for an intelligent discourse on how the adult entertainment industry has impacted society and culture. I’m also hoping a few from the industry will participate to offer their insight. Ask Me Anything on Reddit!””

The “I Am A: Ask Me Anything” with Chauntelle Tibbals, Ph.D. will occur from 7 pm to 8 pm EST on Thursday, June 12. A link to her AMA will be available via her Twitter account, @DrChauntelle, at 6:30 pm EST. Those wishing to participate may also find Dr. Chauntelle’s AMA by clicking here and searching the menu.

Chauntelle Tibbals, Ph.D. is committed to evaluating and understanding the place of gender, sexuality, sex work, and other marginalized factions in society. While her field of sociology should be an unbiased study of the development, structure, and functioning of the social world, Dr. Chauntelle continually notices prejudices popping up when dealing with social relations of a taboo and/or fluid nature.

As a result, Dr. Chauntelle has dedicated her career to shedding light on the inner workings of industries, services, and groups operating in the shadows of society. Through her research, written works, and media appearances, she hopes to help the general public better understand and relate to those persons previously shunned, whether they be prostitutes, porn stars, members of LGBTQ communities, or anyone with unconventional habits or desires.

“Normally I’m the one observing others, asking questions, and taking notes, but it will be interesting to have the situation reversed during the IAmA,” states Dr. Chauntelle.
