An artist was left perplexed after Facebook banned a scientific picture she produced of a pregnant woman’s body.
Rebecca Harris had been commissioned to produce the embroidered piece for the Eden Project for an exhibition entitled: ‘Invisible You: The Human Microbiome’.
She was informed by the Facebook ads team that her artwork was banned due to it being ‘overly sexual’ .
Ms Harris decided to take this bizarre story to Twitter which garnering her hundreds of new followers and a huge amount of free nationwide publicity.
‘Jane’ of the Facebook ads team sent her the following explanation for the ban: ‘Your ad was rejected because the image doesn’t follow our ad guidelines.
‘Ads may not use overly sexual images, suggest nudity, show a lot of skin or cleavage, or focus unnecessarily on specific body parts. This is also applicable to the images present on your pages.
