The San Fernando Valley’s largest business advocacy group has sided with the porn industry to launch a campaign against a November ballot measure that would require adult film actors to wear condoms on all production sites.

The Valley Industry and Commerce Association, along with the Free Speech Coalition announced their partnership Thursday at Manwin, a Burbank-based production company that is believed to be one of the largest porn production companies in the U.S. and Europe.

They say Measure B, known as the “Safe Sex Initiative” and on the Los Angeles County November ballot, would cost taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars in enforcement costs.

“The real results of this ballot measure, should it pass, will be a loss of thousands of jobs. The industry employes more than 10,000 workers in production-related jobs such as makeup, lighting, carpenters, transportation, food service, payroll processing, web design and actors,” VICA President Stuart Waldman.

“At a time when growing the economy and creating more jobs is imperative, Measure B is precisely what Los Angeles does not need.”
