ATLANTA – A female Atlanta police officer believes she was violated while participating in a prostitution sting.
During an undercover operation, Atlanta police staged a fake illicit party to catch prostitutes. A male officer partially disrobed, while a female undercover officer got completely nude.
“She was photographed, obviously, as part of collection of evidence,” said City Council member Michael Bond.
Backup officers were in an adjoining room videotaping for evidence. The nude officer claims that the male officers in that room did not immediately respond after she gave a signal for them to enter the room, according to Bond. The woman was upset over the delay and has filed a complaint with APS internal affairs, sources tell FOX 5.
The female officer also allegedly found out that video was being shown to officers not involved in the case.
APS Police Chief George Turner told FOX 5’s Morse Diggs in a phone interview that the department is investigating the allegations.
“We have an obligation to make sure that we protect the police officers, both male and female. I’m very concerned about this particular complaint and we’re doing everything we can to do the investigation and find out everything that happened,” said Turner.
Ken Allen, head of the police union, said he is familiar with the investigation. He said the union is investigating.
