Thursday, AHF held a second publicity stunt designed to bully Cal/OSHA into doing its bidding in regards to regulations concerning adult film production.
Cal/OSHA’s draft regulations are not yet finalized, and AHF is demanding condom-specific regs which would likely drive adult production out of California, or underground.
Yesterday’s protest was held in downtown Los Angeles — today AHF’s paid protesters convened outside Cal/OSHA’s Oakland offices.
The Oakland protesters were paid with $25 gift cards.
The protester-for-hire market must be more competitive in the Bay Area, because AHF was able to get away with paying the Los Angeles group in $15 gift cards.

The Cal/OSHA Standards Board will likely announce proposed regulations and public meetings very soon. According to a statement by the Free Speech Coalition (FSC), Wednesday, “Cal/OSHA is currently in the process of drafting regulations specific to the adult film industry. We expect a draft version of the regulations to be available in just a few months and that those regulations will take into account the input of the affected workers — in this case, adult film performers and performer groups — something Michael Weinstein and AHF have refused to do.”
As attorney Karen Tynan noted earlier this year, “Michael Weinstein appears frustrated that Cal/OSHA is only doing 90% of what AHF wants, and isn’t working fast enough for AHF’s tastes.”
