(Los Angeles, CA / December 5, 2019) — Adult services guide SLIXA is turning up the discussion about former U.S. Democratic presidential hopeful Kamala Harris’ recent exit from the campaign trail. Most sex workers’ reactions? “Good riddance”.
In the latest post from Slixa.com/blog, ‘Bye Girl Bye: Kamala Harris is Gone (and Won’t Be Missed)’, sex workers are making their voices heard about the sad fact that, in addition to Harris, “there are currently no 2020 Democratic candidates who openly support sex workers.”
As politicians choose to ignore the obvious problems with the misguided FOSTA-SESTA ‘sex trafficking’ law, legitimate service providers – including plenty of marginalized and disenfranchised citizens among them – don’t see a solution to this very serious ongoing problem.
“As much as we’d like to creatively consider the ways candidates and politicians alike could support decrim and legalization in these moderate times, it appears that being pro FOSTA/ SESTA is considered to be centrist way to go,” the article states.
“To dive deeply into tackling the differences between trafficking and consenting work would be to swing too radical, and risk losing the vote.
“Despite the fact that there doesn’t seem to be a better alternative – at least in terms of policies around sex work – we’re personally not sorry to see Kamala Harris go. Let’s hope her newfound free time allows her to be a better Senator than she was a presidential candidate – and that she can learn from her mistakes.”
