PAWTUCKET, Rhode Island (October 27, 2015) – The Center for Sexual Pleasure and Health is pleased to announce its “An Affair to Remember” fundraising event raised a grand total of $16,560. The event celebrated The CSPH’s fifth year as a sex-positive adult educational organization; funds raised by the event will help The CSPH support its mission towards providing comprehensive and pleasure-based sexual health and education services.

“’An Affair to Remember’ was a huge milestone for The CSPH,” says Program Manager Kira Manser. “It was an incredibly fun and powerful night, reflecting on everything we as an organization have accomplished. It showed both The CSPH’s fun and serious sides as well! We got silly, and posed with large stuffed reproductive organ plushies in our photobooth, and also talked about the ways our work impacts people’s lives, keeping them from feeling broken or ashamed of their desires. We appreciated everyone who came out and celebrated with us, and can’t wait to see where we’ll be in 5 more years!”

The fundraiser featured an art installation entitled “A Place at the Table.” Showcasing dinner plates crafted by local New England artists, each plate honored a significant moment in the history of the field of sexuality, and was auctioned off during the event. Of note during the evening was a wooden plate honoring CSPH Founder Megan Andelloux, designed by William Guise.

Additional silent auction items were also available, ranging from wellness packages to a weekend stay in the Berkshires. The night also included music and hors’ d’oeuvres, with a custom-crafted, signature CSPH cocktail and gift bag for each attendee. The evening was sponsored by Amazing Intimate Essentials, The Miriam Hospital, Blush Novelties, Giant Microbes, RIFuture.org, Partners in Sex Education, Lucky Bloke, Woodhull Sexual Freedom Alliance, Sybian, National Sex Ed Conference, and Good Vibrations.

“Since 2010, we have worked to educate people and spark dialogue, especially around topics that may be very difficult, in service of creating a more sexually literate society and promoting sexual health and wellness,” says Andelloux. “The CSPH is uniquely qualified to lead this conversation as an organization founded and governed by certified sexuality educators, licensed social workers, and practicing physicians.”

The CSPH’s mission is of reducing sexual shame, by thwarting efforts aimed at hindering the dissemination of information about sexuality to their communities. It achieves these goals by working collaboratively with medical and behavioral health professionals to promote medically accurate and affirming information.
