Brett Rossi: When Will Sex Workers Get Our #MeToo Moment?

Brett Rossi is a model, entertainer, dancer, pornographic actress, and stand-up comedian based in Los Angeles.

Over the past seven months, we’ve experienced a public reckoning surrounding sexual assault and harassment, particularly in the workplace. Today, #MeToo is much more than a hashtag, it’s an internationally recognized movement—one that will likely go down in history as responsible for changing how women are treated not only at work, but in general

Meanwhile, however, Trump has implemented FOSTA-SESTA, an anti-sex trafficking bill that voluntary sex workers have very publicly argued will hugely compromise their safety while they work by shutting down online services that facilitate their safety and forcing them onto the street. Even before these bills passed, sex workers were 400 percent more likely to be murdered than the average woman, according to the Sex Workers Outreach Project.

This is violence against women on the job in its most extreme form. And yet, there is no public outcry on the level of when Aziz Ansari allegedly attempted to coerce a date into sex, Louis CK allegedly masturbated in front of women without their consent, or when Kevin Spacey was accused of sexual harassment and assault. We should be angry about those things. But why do they get tied to #MeToo while harassment towards and violence against sex workers are largely left out?

Porn stars and escorts will never be seen as legit workers. The vast majority of people consider them human trash along with pimps, gangbangers, and drug dealers. The underbelly of society. Its why they are targeted by serial killers and the only time the public seems to care that one died is once the number of dead girls piles up.

Its not fair but thats how it is. Perhaps one day that attitude might change but not in the foreseeable future. Least ways not while the Christian Republicans rule the roost.

Once the female performers stop enabaling male preditors in the biz things will begin to change. Funny how female performers who blast certain guys in xxx as abusers then turn around and shoot scenes with dirtbags who have had tons of alligations against them. Just look at rico getting torn new one by certain girls who claimed abuse and how they needed women power to deal with their struggles. Within a week these same girls run over to james deen to shoot porn with the biggest dirtbag/ sexual preditor known in xxx. So much for women sticking together.

As long as women can vote, Prostitution will remain illegal. No one hates sex workers as much as women do. Pussy in exchange for dollars suppresses the value and power of civilian pussy. Remember when you think of the worst Presidents in the History of the USA that Woodrow Wilson not only gave away control of our economy to the Federal Reserve, and attempted to give away our sovereignty to the League of Nations, but signed the 19th Amendment, allowing women to vote, giving us scum in the Oval Office like Jack Kennedy and Bill Clinton, and insuring sex workers… Read more »

The industry tried to have one a couple years ago, started by Stoya and endorsed by over a dozen other females in the industry. Rossi was one of the performers who continued to perform with Deen.

She wants a metoo moment? Stand in solidarity when your fellow sex workers out a abuser.

Stoy made a rape claim, then disappeared, never to say anything else about it. Which of the other allegations against Deen were remotely real?

Stoya actually talked about it for a couple weeks afterwards and there was a giant feature spread in Vanity Fair or the New Yorkers or some magazine like that. And do you need the list of women who alleged abuse on and off set? This was a guy who the most full throated defense included the idea that ‘sure he’s done fucked up shit on set, but that’s common.’ Yhivi for instance retired after a scene with him because she had one thing on her no list, no punching the stomach, and what does Dean do? punches her in the… Read more »

Stoys called him a rapist Nd disappearwd for a few weeks while others aired their greivances. I remember many of the tales falling apart. Too lazy to search this site for them. There is a wide trough between being an asshole and being a rapist. Vanity Fair artie means nothing. James Franco’s accusers were on a morning show, and the worst thing he wound up being accused of was calling his assistant names. If you are erroding the meaning of rhe #metoo thing down to “he wasnt nice” then ypu are really doing a disservice to actual victims of rape/sex… Read more »

James deen was porns golden boy. A guy who was merging xxx with mainstream outlets. There was absolutely no way producers wanted him out of the picture. He was always a sexual predator who had a thing for using anyone female in his presence like she was his own property. If you think his problem started with stoya then i feel sorry for you. Everyone had heard the stories of this asshole abusing girls both off and on set long before the stoya / multiple other female performers accusations. Best part of it all if he were black or a… Read more »
