Sola Aoi, a former Japanese adult movie performer who is now a mainstream film and television actor, has surprised fans awaiting her next film appearance with her internet savvy by taking advantage of her network of fans to enter the lingerie industry, the website of the Chinese affiliate of US-based magazine Entrepreneur reports.
She has sold 700,000 articles of lingerie to date under the brand name Spakeys. Her popularity as an adult video star subsequently led to celebrity status as a media personality in Japan and further afield, which Aoi is now making use of to market her new product line.
Aoi’s time in the porn industry and as a film and television actor saw her accumulate some 14.9 million Chinese fans on Sina Weibo. This meant that as soon as Aoi launched her new lingerie line, the news was quickly shared more than 20,000 times.
Aoi is selling the lingerie for 1,288 yuan (US$207) a set and the magazine suggested that the price was set after consultation with industry experts.
Aoi offered the first 1,000 customers silk underwear she has personally designed and priority to buy limited edition products.
