Author and “700 Club” host Pat Robertson is once again opening his mouth and letting vile nonsense spew forth.
A viewer wrote in to the Christian Broadcasting Network to say she had left her church after finding out a man she had voluntarily transported from his nursing home to Sunday service is “dying of AIDS.” The viewer asks if, morally, she should have been informed of the man’s diagnosis before driving him because, “What if we had had an accident?”
Robertson’s co-host, Terry Meeuwsen, attempts to subtly point out how ridiculous the notion is, but Robertson decides to go off on a tangent, after telling the viewer to go ahead and go back to church.
“You know what they do in San Francisco? Some of the gay community, they want to get people,” Robertson says. “So if they’ve got ‘the stuff,’ they’ll have a ring — you shake hands, and the ring’s got a little thing where you cut your finger. Really, I mean it’s that kind of vicious stuff, which would be the equivalent of murder.”
An archived version of the broadcast posted to CBN’s website has the comment edited out.
Other recent Robertson gems include telling a female viewer it’s OK for her husband to cheat as long as he is paying the bills, blaming former CIA director David Petraeus’ affair on his mistress Paula Broadwell, and calling the catastrophic 20120 Haiti earthquake a “blessing in disguise
