What’s past is prologue. ~ William Shakespeare, The Tempest
“I hate to say it, but I knew something like this was going to happen,” adult star Brooke Haven tells TRPWL.
In November 2009, MMA fighter War Machine went berserk at a joint birthday party for Haven and adult producer/director Glenn King at Ultima Studios in Van Nuys, California (not Ultimate Studios, as was misreported at TerezOwens.com.)
As that site told it:
War Machine smacked up his porn star girlfriend Alanah Rae.. He then dragged her outside where several people followed him, trying to stop him from hurting his girlfriend..He then laid out at least 8 people at the party.
“War Machine saw Alanah talking to a guy and got jealous, so he hit her,” one eyewitness tells TRPWL. “Then when some people confronted him he went nuts and started running around the party randomly hitting people, including Derek Hay, Glenn King and Danny Ting.” A few people ended up being taken to the hospital, including adult performer Alec Knight.
Speaking today, Brooke Haven remembers that War Machine showed up early with his friend, Daniel Hunter, and was calm and in good spirits. He even helped blow up balloons. However, War Machine’s demeanor changed suddenly and he turned aggressive. “Even before the fight, he was like an uncaged razorback gorilla,” she recalls.
In fact, a few ladies at the party left because he kept grabbing them.
Haven confronted him before things got violent, and implored him to chill out. “It was like looking at a blank wall,” she recalls of looking in his eyes. “There was nobody home.”
Daniel Hunter assured the hosts he could keep War Machine under control. But no one could.
War Machine found Alanah talking to a man outside the party (the studio was crowded, so the party had spilled put into the parking lot).
After War Machine hit his Alanah, things were at first uncomfortable but calm — witnesses report War Machine was skulking back and forth in the parking lot, with his hands balled up in fists.
“Nobody was in any way acting threatening towards him,” recalls Derek Hay, who was then War Machine’s agent in the adult biz (their relationship ended that night).
But then, all of a sudden, all hell broke loose and War Machine began throwing one-two combinations at people randomly. Alec Knight had a drink in one hand and a cigarette in the other when he got hit, and flung backwards to the ground. Her party ruined, Haven says she jumped on Hunter’s back during the melee.
Inside the studio, Josh Dyben followed the slow migration of partygoers, and found War Machine attacking Hay in the parking lot. Before he could recognize who either of them were, Dyben pushed the fighter off Hay. Dyben assumed a passive stance, but War Machine landed a right hook to his jaw, then took off running to hit other people.
Eventually, War Machine came back around to Dyben, who was ready this time. He punched the fighter was hard as he could in the balls. “I’m a 200-lb guy, and I hit him square in the nuts,” says Dyben. “He didn’t even stagger.”
That lack of response, combined with War Machine’s general demeanor that night, led many at the party to suspect that he was “on something.”
Dyben credits his then-wife, adult star Nicki Hunter, with defusing the situation. “When someone’s in fight mode, hitting them won’t get them to stop. She walked up to him and said, ‘Look around. People are calling the police. You need to get out of here.'”
War Machine went on the lam, and his strategy to avoid jail worked: he hid until the police stopped looking for him, then apparently convinced Alanah to testify on his behalf.
When the people he attacked at the party met with the D.A., Glenn King tells TRPWL, “she told us that she wasn’t going to prosecute because she had two witnesses for War Machine who said he was attacked by a group of hostile porn stars. His two witnesses were Alanah and Daniel Hunter.”
One is left to wonder whether that explains why War Machine is now Tweeting that he was bringing Christy Mack an engagement ring. He may think he can get out of it if he can get her to testify for him.
Haven remembers that War Machine escaped prosecution back in 2009 because “nobody’s stories were matching up.” As we await Christy Mack’s statement we wonder whether War Machine thinks that is his way out this time as well.
