Adult star Christy Mack and Las Vegas businessman Corey Thomas, whom prosecutors allege were savagely beaten by Jonathan Koppenhaver a.k.a. War Machine, face the disgraced ex- MMA fighter in a Las Vegas courtroom Friday.
A full report is forthcoming, but here are a few highlights from the preliminary hearing in Judge Melanie Andress Tobiasson’s courtroom:
Thomas testifies that he and Mack were dating and had fallen asleep fully clothed on Mack’s bed when Koppenhaver entered her home and found the pair on August 8th of this year.
According to Thomas, the fight started quickly after Koppenhaver arrived. He claims the MMA fighter bit him on the cheek and arm during the attack, and he remains physically scarred from it.
Thomas says he debated for about 30 minutes whether or not to report the incident after leaving the scene of the crime.
Christy Mack testifies that her relationship with War Machine first became violent “a few months in”. She says she would be hit at least once a month. Mack describes living in fear: “He told me he would kill me. He also told me he would kill my mother.”
Mack testifies that War Machine left her in May, and she and Corey Thomas began dating around early June. She claims that War Macine kept in touch even though they were “broken up”.
Mack testifies Koppenhaver said in July that he was going to kill himself.
Mack listens to playback of the 911 call. She can be heard screaming “Jon, stop!” repeatedly in the background. Mack testifies she was watching War Machine beat Thomas.
Mack testfies War Machine made her get in the shower. She doesn’t remember the first hits, but she could taste her own blood.
This preliminary hearing had originally been scheduled for October 15, but was rescheduled after War Machine attempted suicide in his jail cell.
