War Machine, who stands accused of viciously beating his ex-girlfriend Christy Mack and her male friend, is being kept in medical isolation after he attempted suicide in a Las Vegas jail, police said.

According to court records, the former MMA fighter was due in court Wednesday morning for a preliminary hearing. In court that morning, his attorney sought, and was granted, a 30-day continuance to November 14.

Born Jonathan Koppenhaver, the 32-year-old tried to hang himself Tuesday around 9:30 p.m. in his cell at the Clark County Detention Center, when he was discovered by a guard doing a routine walkthrough. War Machine was hanging from his bunk by a torn piece of linen

Guards also found what has been described as a suicide note in the cell.

His attorney told TMZ there were multiple letters found in the cell, and one of them was addressed to Mack.

Koppenhaver was unresponsive and struggling to breathe when he was found, but has since fully recovered, according to police. He is now on suicide watch.
