A&E has a new original real-life show about swinging — which is when two partners in a committed relationship engage in sexual activities with others — and based on its premiere, the swingers might actually be cult members.
Neighbors With Benefits features a group of residents, some of whom are swingers and some of whom want no part in the action, of an unnamed suburban community in Ohio. The show follows a handful of these couples as they explore their sexualities and have a little fun with the people they probably borrow a cup of sugar from every now and then.
However, it’s soon clear that the swinging lifestyle — or just “The Lifestyle,” as it’s commonly referred to within the show — featured on the series has a few major things in common with a cult. And that connection isn’t too much of a jump considering one of the main swingers, Tony, is flat-out asked if he’s a cult leader within the first 10 minutes of the premiere.
