It may seem odd saying The Muppets and porn in the same sentence…but apparently their song Mahna Mahna is originally from an Italian softcore film circa the 1960’s.

The Muppets movie is getting rave reviews for returning to their roots. But a remake of the classic Mahna Mahna jazz song is causing a stir because of its decidedly un-Muppets like origins: an Italian soft-core porn movie from the 1960s.
As the credits close in the new movie, a roster of stars walk on and off to the classic Mahna Mahna tune best known by kids, now parents themselves, as one of the best and funniest bits from the first year the Muppets appeared on Sesame Street in 1969.
The video below recounts the action, so suffice to say it’s a classic way overdue for a new shot. But how many of those kids-turned-parents are aware that the tune comes from a soft-core porno movie about Swedish lesbians?
