This guy must be a total fucking sleaze, right? As Mark shuffles across the parking lot in his bare feet to greet me, I judge. There’s the gut, the receding hairline and the ill- fitting clothes, all uncomfortably characteristic of a man who arranges for women half his age to be filmed performing ungodly sex acts for profit. And the poor girls. Right? Surely they’re young and impressionable, lured in to the work and exploited only to later find themselves penniless and humiliated. Right?

But Mark Spiegler isn’t quite so easily stereotyped. Sitting in his apartment, an almost disappointingly tidy suite in a quiet enclave of LA’s San Fernando Valley, he tells me about Spiegler Girls, his one-man adult entertainment agency. A former day trader with comfortable savings from early retirement, he fell into porn by chance and has since used his business savvy to build an elite management company that he basically runs for fun. His roster of thirty or so “girls” are supposedly chosen for their intelligence as much as for their looks and sexual audacity. Some of the most prominent performers in the industry, his clients are also legitimate entrepreneurs, feminists, polyglots and graduate students—hardly the starry-eyed inge?nues one might expect—and they’re held to Mark’s own strict standards of professionalism, a trait rarely associated with their trade. In return for hard work and reliability, they say, they receive from Spiegler the most attentive, respectful and lucrative representation in porn. The whole operation seems to benefit everyone involved in a way that’s implausibly clean.

Now, there’s no justifying or normalizing the fact that pornography broadcasts a largely distorted, unhealthy depiction of sex. And certain things Mark says—his acknowledgment of father-daughter dynamics with his clients, some humor so crass it makes me flinch—have me wondering if there isn’t a darker layer to this whole story. But Spiegler Girls appears to prove that not every porn boss is a predator, not every performer a damaged victim. With human nature creating an overwhelming demand for pornography, and society approving of it at least in law, Mark and these women have every right to believe it’s an honest way to make a living. And who am I to tell them they’re wrong?

OFFICE — So what does a porn agent do, exactly?

MARK SPIEGLER — I’m an agent just like any Hollywood agent, we’re licensed and bonded. We represent the girls. Spiegler Girls is a little different, we’re small and kind of boutique, most of our girls are the top girls, and we only take a small amount because I retired when I was young, before this. So it’s not about the money. Also, unlike some other agencies, we’re kind of like a manager and PR person, we create a career, a path for them.

O — You grew up in LA, right?

MS — Yeah, born in Silver Lake, then I grew up in Hollywood. I graduated from Hollywood High.

I love that he shits on Porno Dan in the interview.

I also likes that he talks of making money on Jew Gold during the 87 crash and that he mentions Riley Reid anal.

Can you find out if Terry Richardson pressured any of the girls in the pics to let him eat their asses? It is alleged he enjoys ass eating. Just Google “Terry Richardson ass eating.”
