Just because the porn industry has shut down, doesn’t mean adult film enthusiasts are going to stop watching their favorite flicks. Case in point: A clerk at the Los Angeles Department of Transportation’s dispatch center is under administrative investigation after over 600 porn DVDs were discovered under his desk.
A supervisor discovered at least half a dozen boxes containing the X-rated flicks, which included multiple copies of several titles as well as “general viewership” movies, says the L.A. Times, like westerns and comedies. Shipping packages and PayPal paperwork were also found on the employee’s desk.
A city source close to the incident told the Times the DVD titles ranged from “mild to very extreme” porn.
The employee is under investigation, not for his potential porn obsession or intent to sell the videos, but for possible misuse of government property. The clerk is suspected of using a department computer to order the DVDs and having them shipped to his work address.
Department spokesman Bruce Gillman said, “This was not a criminal matter,” and noted that it is not yet clear what the employee, who is eligible for retirement, planned to do with the discs.
The case isn’t the first of its nature to rock the department. LADOT launched an investigation in April 2011 after an adult video surfaced showing two uniformed, male traffic officers participating in a porno using city property. One of the men was placed on administrative leave, while the other employee was fired.
A senior supervisor is investigating the incident; necessary disciplinary action will be taken upon the completion of the probe.
