Saturday demonstration highlights adult industry opposition to County Measure B.
LOS ANGELES — Adult performers and other adult industry personalities will demonstrate their opposition to Measure B on the L.A. County ballot by taking their case to a double-decker bus tour of Hollywood on Saturday, November 3.
“Proponents of Measure B would like you to think that it’s just about using condoms in porn, but that’s not true,” adult-industry blogger Tod Hunter said. “If this passes, adult content will have to be shot under emergency room protocols. The same rules that protect an ER nurse from the spurting blood of a gunshot victim will apply to professional adult performers — even husbands and wives when they are working together. And producers will have to pay extra for filming permits to pay for inspections of their sets. Measure B is a declaration of war against the adult industry; an attempt to shut it down by smothering it in bureaucratic red tape.”
The bus tour will commence at an adult production studio in Canoga Park, and will drive through the tourist-heavy Hollywood Boulevard and Sunset Boulevard corridors. The tour has been arranged by the organizers of LA Porn Tours, which offers adult movie fans the chance to see places where adult content is shot.
“Everybody in the adult industry is doing what we can to defeat this measure,” said LA Porn Tours’ Benjamin Free said. “I got a bus, and we’re taking?it to the streets.”
The performers are looking forward to the demonstration.
“We’re citizens too, and we don’t deserve to have laws regulate our industry with no input from us,” performer Alex Chance said. “I believe we performers should have the choice whether to use condoms or not. We shouldn’t be forced into doing things with our bodies that we do not want to do.”
