The following announcement went out the other day to users of squirt.org, which had been a popular site for gay escorts:
Dear Escort Community,
As of October 21, 2015, all references to escorts and massage services have been removed from Squirt.org. This has been a hard decision to make; however, as a company based in Canada. we need to comply with the change in Canadian law prohibiting advertising the sale of sexual services. We have made this change to protect Squirt and its membership. However, our parent company, Pink Triangle Press, supports the rights of sex workers. We will continue to champion those rights in our journalism and activism work.
The change affects all parts of the site, including your profile name, description and escort status, as well as any posts made across the site (message boards. cruising listings, comments, email chat etc.).
So how will the change affect me?
As your username has a term associated with the hire of escort/massage services, your account has been temporarily suspended. To reactivate your account, please email the Customer Service team (dickhunter@squirt.org) with the below information and the Customer Service team will get you back up and running within 5 – 7 business days:
Your current username
three alternative usernames (listed in order of preference – in case your preferred username is already taken)
Your status (‘I am Escort/Massage’) has been reset to ‘Gay’. You are however, able to manually update this to one of the other status options Your profile description and headline has been deleted and will need to be re-populated without any reference to escort/massage services or payment for services
Any score card comments have been deleted and are not able to be reinstated
