Fresh on the heels of ‘breaking’ a ridiculous and false rattlesnake story about the death of adult performer Billy Glide, disgraced amateur pornographer, failed talent agent and Georgia gossip blogger Mike South has published another doozie — and is feeling the heat like never before.
On June 9, South ran a short blog post entitled “What Really Happened To Jon Dough”:
He was a popular performer for many years, a laid back guy that most everyone liked. His suicide took a lot of people by surprise. Now thaty [sic] may have a better understanding of the what happened.
Jon Dough committed suicide 1n 2006, his wife at the time Monique DeMoan broke the story to AVN.
What nobody reported and The FSC, AVN and AIM kept VERY quiet was that John Dough had tested HIV positive three days prior.
It came up recently in a GFY thread soI felt the record should probably be set straight
Gee, thanks Mike South!
The story sounds intriguing, until you take a look at the GFY thread in question.
Kelli Roberts of LukeIsBack examined the evidence, and has now taken South to task:
I looked up the GFY thread in question that Mike South references and the only person making the claim that he was HIV positive was in fact Mike South himself. So where did this story really come from? Who is the “source” claiming the Jon Dough was HIV positive?
Yes, that’s right, folks — Mike South actually sourced himself on his post!
More from Roberts:
Today Mike South posted a short story that simply put claimed porn legend Jon Dough was HIV positive and that’s why he killed himself.
So is that true? Was Jon Dough really HIV positive? Seriously? That wasn’t the story I heard when he killed himself in August of 2006. And now Rob Black from Adult FYI is out to set the record straight. But to be clear, Rob Black isn’t speaking as another gossip columnist, he is coming out as someone who had first hand knowledge, someone who was there.
Jon Dough was under contract with Rob Black’s company Extreme Associates at that time in his life. They ended up having to let him go because of his extreme drug use and his inability to perform as a direct result of that drug use.
Jon Dough was a meth addict. Anyone who spent even 5 minutes with him knew this. This wasn’t a big secret.
August of 2006 also wasn’t the first or even second time he tried to kill himself. Jon Dough had really lost it in his final days. His drug use was severe and he became increasingly crazy. His drug of choice was methamphetamines. People say that he would get super fucked up and then sit in his bedroom and just stare out the window, waiting people to come and get him. His paranoid delusions where legendary. Everyone it seems was out to get him.
This is again something anyone who spent even a small amount of time with Jon Dough would know.
And that is precisely the point — Mike South is nothing more than an out-of-touch gossip blogger 2,200 miles from porn valley who absolutely lives to shit on the adult business.
What we at TRPWL find truly remarkable in this latest episode is the silence of South’s “crew”, including the former lab rep for AIM Healthcare Foundation at the time in question, Tim Tritch (a.k.a. “jilted”). Normally he and “Lurking Reader” would be all over the comments section of such a juicy, anti-porn business story. But, not this time.
Had Jon Dough tested positive for HIV, the LAB would have been required to notify government heath authorities — NOTHING AIM or FSC could have done would have stopped that.
As one leading adult producer texted me, Tuesday:
And here is the crux of the matter. Regardless of what you say about Tim Tritch — and I’ve said plenty over the years, both here and on LIB — he has always remained consistent in one key respect: he steadfastly supports and expresses pride in the work done by AIM — or at least the work done on behalf of AIM at the clinical laboratories that employed him.
At LIB, Roberts points out what should be obvious to anyone who understands the value of having access to genuine, first-hand sources in the adult business:
Rob Black also reports that Jon Dough became increasingly violet and belligerent. “He was so strung out he thought people were coming to the house to get him.” Again this Rob Black would know because he was in Jon Dough’s life at that time.
Rob Black said “He was so hooked on meth, that is what put him over the edge. Not being HIV positive.”
Was he really HIV positive? That isn’t clear. But most likely no. As far as I know there has never been a single person to claim this except Mike South. But even if you don’t know, look at it logically. [K]eeping an active performer’s HIV status private would hurt the entire industry. Even if the guy killed himself, others would have had to be tested. But according to Mike South it was better to just put all those others at risk out of respect for him? Seriously? I just don’t buy that. Plus in all this time, there were a ton of leaked AIM information. That is one thing that never got leaked. So everything EVER to happen at AIM gets leaked, except that one thing? Umm okay.

Ol South has eaten one too many diseased squirrels. Now it’s affecting his brain.
It is more likely to be Syphilis than Mad Squirrel Disease, since Syphilis is one of the STDS Mike South doesn’t think is important enough to test himself or his performers for.
I was chairman of the board of directors of AIM at the time of Jon Dough’s death. Had he tested positive we would have followed our usual protocols by imposing a moratorium and retesting all his recent partners and all of theirs.
There was no such test and no such measures were taken, period. This is total bullshit. As of the date of his death Dough continued to test negative.

Jon Dough was the epitome of what a porn super hero is all about. A true legend in every sense. They broke the mold when they made him. Rest in peace.
In order to bolster his story, he later posted an email from an unnamed source :
“From A porn guy who predates me in the biz:
At first I was skeptical about the Job Dough story. I admit that it had a certain ring of truth about it leading me to make a single phone call to the only person I knew that would be likely to know. When I asked the hesitation was all I needed to hear. Good call old buddy. How the hell did you uncover that?”
