“Would you want an ex-porn star who has tried to commit suicide by HIV representing you?”

Daily Mail columnist Richard Littlejohn has questioned HIV positive Lib Dem parliamentary candidate Adrian Hyyrylainen-Trett’s credibility.

In 2013, Richard Littlejohn wrote that Lucy Meadows was unsuitable to be a teacher because she was trans. Ms Meadows later took her own life.

During an interview with Buzzfeed this week, Hyyrylainen-Trett, the Lib Dem candidate for Vauxhall, revealed how his clinical depression as a student led him down a self-destructive path to become purposefully infected with HIV.

His decision to share his tragic story was praised by many in the LGBT community, including Sir Elton John, who labeled Hyyrylainen-Trett a ‘fine example’ that those living with HIV can live meaningful, productive lives

However, not all the feedback has been postive.  In his latest column for The Daily Mail, Richard Littlejohn suggests that the public wouldn’t want ‘an ex-porn star who has tried to commit suicide by HIV” to represent them.
